Chess on a Thursday in Rome 3

Thursday belongs to the Accademia Scacchistica Romana. Its evening opens run in numbered cycles through the whole year, each cycle carrying a name of its own, with one round a week from early evening at the club’s rooms near Tiburtina station. Players register for a whole cycle, and the games count for rating.

Earlier in the day Roma Scacchi opens the Santa Rita cultural centre for free play and courses on Thursday afternoon, as it does on Monday. The Thursday evening of Lazio Scacchi at the rowing club on the Tiber is for its members only and is listed under members’ chess instead. If a Thursday falls on a public holiday, expect the round to move.
